Dear St. Barbara Community,
We hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer!
We will be having our next General Assembly this coming Sunday, Aug. 10, following church. Since this meeting is during a time when many of our parishioners are away on vacation, we wanted to make everyone aware of the reason for calling this meeting.
Our church building is beginning to get to the age where certain parts are needing repair. Over the last year, the most pressing need has become the roof. The parish council has been getting estimates and options for a completely new roof, as leaks have been intensifying over the last year. You can all see the large tarp currently on the roof as a temporary protection from these leaks. The primary focus of the General Assembly this coming Sunday will be to discuss our options, how to pay for them, and gather feedback from our wonderful community. This type of repair is something that needs to be discussed by everyone, as it will affect our community for many years to come.
While we will share all the options on Sunday, the cost will be very significant. Initial quotes from roofing companies are starting around $170,000, and go up to well over $400,000. We will need support and donations from the community to help make this new roof, which is essential to protecting our church, a reality. If you are in the position to possibly help, please reach out to Father or members of the Parish Council.
St. Barbara is not only a church, but a community. Working together, our community can overcome every obstacle. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!
Thanks so much,
St. Barbara Parish Council
